Picente Statement on Federal Tech Hub Funding

“Once again the Utica-Rome region has been egregiously excluded from the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s Tech Hub grant awards. We have more than 2,000 semiconductor and supply chain jobs and counting, which is more than any of the areas in New York that received Phase 2 funding. And that doesn’t even include the thousands of jobs generated at the Griffiss Business & Technology Park related to quantum computing, cybersecurity and drone research and development at our FAA UAS Test Site. I am extremely disappointed by this slight from the federal government, but Oneida County will continue to invest in our tech corridor with the help of New York State and other partners who support our efforts.
