DEC Youth Hunt Teaches Environmental Stewardship

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced that Environmental Conservation Police Officers (ECOs) in partnership with the Sportsmen of Oneida County, Affiliated Conservation Clubs of Madison County, and the Madison County National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), are offering youth ages 12-15 the opportunity to hunt turkey with ECOs this spring during the 14th annual Oneida / Madison County Youth Turkey Hunt. The two-day hunt is preceded by an educational day held at the Cassety Hollow Rod and Gun Club.

What: Oneida / Madison County Youth Turkey Hunt
When: Educational day Saturday, April 13, at 9 a.m.; hunting days Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 starting at 5:30 a.m.
Where: Cassety Hollow Rod and Gun Club, 4265 Alabam Rd., Oriskany Falls, NY 13425

Interested youth hunters must possess a New York State hunting license and valid turkey tags. The event is free to participants and all equipment will be provided if necessary. The event is hosted by the Sportsmen of Oneida County and the Affiliated Conservation Clubs of Madison County and sponsored by NWTF and the New York Conservation Officers Association.
